Holy Moly! Johnny and Sean’s story is hot as heck!Starting from the Top is a bisexual, age gap, opposites attract story that drew me in from page one. Johnny and Zero are on the brink of superstardom and Sean is Johnny’s new neighbor and his band mate Tegan’s ex boyfriend. We met Sean in Justin and Grey’s book and it’s nice to get to know him better. Sean likes control and Johnny doesn’t like being told what to do or how to act, yet he’s oddly attracted to Sean when he gets all authoritative, which is smoking hot. Sean wants to keep his personal life, his love life, and his business life all separated, but when Johnny ends up a part of all three, things get messy for Sean. This book has some pretty angsty vibes near the end but it’s so so good! I love books with kids in them and these kids act their age and that’s not always believable when written. I love how Johnny connects with Parker and tries to help him and let’s Penny be herself with him. I love that there was no drama with Tegan when he found out Johnny was sleeping with Sean. I loved the explosive chemistry between Sean and Johnny and I love that they worked hard to make their relationship work despite the outside influences working against them! I always say Lane’s new release in a series is my favorite and I love all these guys, but Johnny might really be my favorite and that’s hard to say because I loved Char and Ky’s book hard! This one is the best of the series so far and that’s saying something! It’s no secret how much I love Lane Hayes’ writing and nothing has changed! The story unfolds, as always, in such an organic way. I love how we, the readers, get to experience the development of their relationship step by step by way of fabulous dialogue. It is swoon worthy!! Let me also add their chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS!! They just needed time to realize just how good they are together and those on the outside don't matter, even though they don’t fit the perceived, perfect mold. I gotta say the relationship Johnny forms with Sean’s kids just melted my cold, tiny heart. I’m not gonna lie, Lane had me pressing on my heart and fighting the leaky eyes!! I loved every single word of this book and can not wait to get it in my ears!! Although part of a series, Lane writes her books so they can be read as standalone and this one is no exception.
